Trousdale Estates

Trousdale Estates is the most exclusive of the neighborhoods in Beverly Hills. It was developed on land that is north of Sunset Boulevard and the Beverly Hills flats and just west of the bird streets in West Hollywood.

The grounds originally belonged to Mrs. Lucy Smith Doheny Battson, wife of Edward L. Doheny, Jr, son of oil tycoon Edward L. Doheny; were known as the Doheny Ranch or the Doheny Estate; and included the Greystone Mansion.

In 1954, Paul Trousdale purchased the grounds, while the mansion was purchased by industrialist Henry Crown. Shortly after, Trousdale convinced the Beverly Hills City Council to add the neighborhood to the city, which they accepted, and he renamed it the Trousdale Estates.

Trousdale first built 532 original lots, where homes were mainly built and designed in the 1960s, by renowned architects Wallace Neff, Paul R. Williams, A. Quincy Jones, Frank Lloyd Wright and Harold Levitt and others.

Poised above the Beverly Hills flats, Trousdale Estates real estate can offer jetliner views that span from downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean, as well as Catalina Island miles away in the horizon.

Beverly Hills history is deeply rooted in Trousdale as The Greystone Mansion calls this hillside neighborhood home. The 46,000-square-foot Tudor-style-estate-turned-city-park was built in 1928. The Doheny Mansion, as it’s also known, is a public park and also is available as a wedding and event venue.

Trousdale Estates’s proximity to West Hollywood and Beverly Hills gives residents easy access 5 minute car ride to everything from Platinum Triangle of Beverly Hills for all the restaurants, shopping and attractions that Rodeo Drive has to offer to Sunset Strip high energy or Century city mall. It also offers full access to Beverly Hills schools, city services and amenities.

The neighborhood has 24/7 security patrol cars with armed guards.

Trousdale Estates has been home to many celebrities both today and in the past such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Tony Curtis, Ray Charles, and Groucho Marx and more recently, Jennifer Aniston, David Spade, Vera Wang, John Rich, Jane Fonda, and Richard Perry have lived in the neighborhood.
